The transition from primary to secondary school is a big change in the life of a student and some can find this quite a stressful process. Berwick Fields aims to alleviate this as much as possible and the results of surveys conducted with year 7 students each year suggests that most of our students adjust very quickly.

In term 4 our year six students participate in a program called “Tran’six’on” which explores issues such as:

  • how to read a secondary school timetable
  • hopes, fears and beliefs
  • distinguishing between myths and facts
  • peer pressure
  • bullying
  • friendships and
  • self esteem

Our year 5/6 program this year uses an Inquiry- based learning approach which also assists our students to become familiar with moving from class to class whilst being taught by a greater number of teachers.
