In class this term we have been learning about Science. Everyone has come up with their own inquiry ‘why’ question to investigate. We have decided that the best way to explain what have learned would be to create a papermation video. You can see an example of a papermation here.
This is the first of our videos finished, created independently by Jessica and Bethany. They chose the question “Why is Venus hotter than Mercury?” Check out their fantastic explanation. Don’t forget to leave them some feedback about their efforts!
Today in class we had a look at creating electrical circuits. We built a circuit that involved 9V or AA batteries, a switch and a motor. We then had to use our creativity and problem solving skills to design a car that could hold the circuit and be the fastest in our race. Check out the designs below!
This game, from the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, will teach you all about the different types of simple machines. Simple machines form the backbone of many of our current day inventions and technology.
Tell us what you have learned about different simple machines in a comment below.
Only one sleep to go until the start of term four! It is sure to be a busy, yet exciting, term, especially for our grade sixes who are set to graduate in eleven weeks time. Let’s have a look at what’s on the agenda for the coming week.
This week, we are going to be diving into our new inquiry topic based around science. We will be immersing ourselves in science over the coming fortnight before we choose our own areas of interest to study. In maths, we are going to be looking at angles and shapes. Our kicking goals sessions will be booted back up again from before production, along with our book groups. In English we are going to spend time investigating and reading science based texts to help with our inquiry study.
