Homework – Weeks 6 and 7 / Costume Notice

Today two tasks are going home; one being our homework for the next fortnight and the other a notice about costumes for our upcoming production.

Firstly, our homework for this fortnight is a little different because of the upcoming production. As students have been busy writing scripts and practising their parts, there are far fewer tasks to complete this week. We expect students will be using the time to revise their lines for the production and get organised ready for the show.

The second piece is a notice about costumes for the production. It is below.

As you are no doubt well aware, our very first school production is very fast approaching. In class students have been busy writing scripts, rehearsing lines, creating sets, props and making lists of the items they will need in order to be ready on the night.

Our grade will be performing scenes set between 1900-1920. Our aim is to source most of the costume items through school in order to keep costs for families to a minimum. There are, however, some items that we are asking each student to provide to complete their costume. These are items that hopefully you already have lying around at home. Each student will need:

•    Pair of plain, black pants (school pants are fine – to be worn with jacket or tails we will provide)
•    Pair of plain shorts in either grey, brown, tan, khaki or black (1900s colours!)
•    A plain white t-shirt (girls might prefer a plain white buttoned shirt)
•    Plain black / brown shoes (school style shoes, not runners)

In order to ensure we are ready for dress rehearsals and to compare what is brought in with the costume items we will be providing, we ask that you please send these items along to school in a named plastic bag once they have been found. Your child will then be able to keep these in their bag cubby until the end of the show so they do not go missing. Shoes obviously may need to be used between now and then and can be brought in production week.

If you have any concerns or questions about the production, please do not hesitate to contact me! As always, my email address is mills.dale.j@edumail.vic.gov.au.
